New Scrap bookroom

So I have finally move everything into my office which was my youngest one's room for awhile. She will shortly be moved from the master bedroom to the master bedroom upstairs to share with her sister. That move will happen in February.
Wall by the door, this case holds all my cross stitch magazines and pattern books. I have enough patterns to do until I am dead and buried LOL. In the small book case is all my computer manuals and games. On top is my computer with the side off as the Video Card gets to hot and shuts everything down so I have a stand fan in front of it to cool everything off. Beside that is my printer which I don't use for printing pictures, I tend to take them out to be done.
On the wall above my computer is my Drayia banner that a pal made for me in a swap. Also visible is the "S" also made for me it says "home joy I love my family". On one end of the banner is a mask also from a pal swap and on the other end is a beautiful butterfly that my DH got for me while we were still dating.
My computer corner. The shelves have a ton of different items most of what has been created for me. I love pal swaps that does altered items. I enjoy surrounding myself with others creativity, it helps me be more creative.
Shelve above my work desk. As you can see it holds my cricut cartridges, middle has jars filled with ribbon pieces, and then my altered book for cuttlebug folders and my altered tin for lace. The clock is for pictures which I need to print off and put new ones in. You can just see a picture frame that says create on it by another pal. Also need to print a picture for it.
My work desk. My altered recycle can for bits and pieces of cs or pp. Containers holding buttons, loose bling, brads, eyelets all divided by colour. As you can see I am currently working on a couple of things so the desk is a little messy. Containers hold my pens, glues, i-Rock accessories, decorative staples and other small things.
I have an extra lamp in the corner to add more light as there is only a pot light in this room and it is not always bright enough. M wall of shelves LOL. This holds all my CS which is pretty much all DCWV. MS punches, asst. albums, large tools like my paper cutters, scor-pal, pencil crayons etc. In the bottom drawers are clear stamps, stamp pads, card making supplies, smaller tools, templates, embossing powders, smaller wooden stamps. The plastic shelves have finished LOs, wooden stamps, cardboard for the back of ATCs and inchies, scrap CS, 12x12 kits to be made. On top is my cricut, all those plastic boxes are sorted by holidays and seasons, themes and colours. The ones on the wooden shoe rack holds rolls of ribbons, bling, small punches, chipboard, ATCs, Inchies, and Cards.

Here is my second work area which my oldest DD uses as I am slowing getting her to try her hand at crafting. She made a scrap book for social all about the Canadian major battles during WWI and she is joining me in a card swap. The green drawers hold all kinds of wool, I use to make plastic furniture for Barbie but stopped when DD got to old for them. Now have 2 small girls again so might have to start making that stuff all over again LOL. In the filing cabinet is all my shipping envelops and baggies. You can see the lamp on my table it is from my little girl's room it has animals on the shade, might have to either buy an new shade or alter that one.

You cant see my shelving unit to well in this picture. Stored in it are my containers for flowers, cuttle bug dies, cuttle bug and embossing gun. Also stored all my unmounted pictures. The picture on the wall is of humming birds that was drawn by Natives so also includes a Native symbol of humming birds. Love humming birds and I have quite the collection of them done all in glass.

Swaps

I am so excited. I saw this on Leslie Guerrero's Blog back in September and loved it. At the time she was having a challenge to create one and was giving a Rak away. I was too busy to participate then it but now have her permission to do a swap like it on sb.com. Here is the link to my swap there if you would like to check it out and join us.

Here is the link to Leslie's Blog and be sure to check out her club kits she has for sale!

http://leslieguerrero.blogspot.com/2010/09/paris-here-we-come-tutorial.html

This shall be a busy month for me, scrappy wise and I am so excited to start creating again. Much rested and the creative juices are flowing, which is good because I have several things to finish by the end of this week. Now hostessing the Birthday Card Swap on sb.com, a Canadian only pal swap, and now this suitcase swap. I love hostessing it is lots of fun, some work but much more enjoyable then just sending things in. I have a lot in my stash now so there are a couple of swaps I have been in for a while that I am thinking of dropping. I really love the swaps were I fill an envelop and just mail to a pal because that way I don't have to worry about postage. Postage is an issue because it means having American cash on me at all times. Trying to get to the bank to exchange money is difficult some days. I run a day home 5 days a week and if I have kids all those days then I cant get out to the banks.

Had a great Christmas with family and friends. All the kids got spoiled which is nice to see and we did not go indebt for it. Was a warm Christmas and the snow started to melt away. Was a little sad as for Christmas Eve we go out and look at all the pretty Christmas Lights and found that half the places that normally decorate did not put up any lights. It was fun and wonderful anyways when you have a 2 year old along telling you to "Look Dad, Lights" every time we passed a house with Christmas Lights on. She loved it so it was worthwhile. Next year it will be 2 of them telling us to "Look".

Now just to get through January and then should have some free cash to again start buying some tools that I need for my scrap room. I have learned a lot this year and that I need more "things" to create with. I have a ton of embellishments but not enough tools to make pretty things. I need to get more MS punches, I like the boarder and corner sets. Would like to get more folders for my cuttle bug, these are great for card making and I am really enjoying doing that. They are a quick and easy thing to make. Need more lace, which surprises me but I have discovered I like how it looks and the dimensions of it on LOs and Cards. Going to look at upgrading my cricut to a expressions one and would like to get some Nessibles or Spellbinders and try them in the cuttle bug. Love Scor-tape and will have to get some more but would love to find an ATG gun. That sounds funny to all you Americans out there but I have not been able to find one around here in Alberta, Canada. Last but not least, start looking at my favourite company's and start getting prepared to apply in December of 2011 to their Design Teams for 2012. I am much more confident in my crafting and creating then I was a year ago and I want to share it with more ppl. Need to promote my Blog somehow to get more followers so that I can have a nice following when/if I get onto some of the Design Teams out there. This is one long post so will sign off for now. Have a Happy New Year all and stay safe.

Thank you and imaginisce release party

A Big THANK YOU out to http://scraplovelaugh.blogspot.com/ They have selected me as a random winner of a fabulous Rak. Go check out their Blog, they have monthly challenges and give out prizes to their followers too.  They are wonderful, very inspiring and they love to check out followers Blogs and leave great comments. Got to know these girls on scrapbook.com. Great site to learn all about scrap booking and other paper crafts. Been involved in several different swaps with them with helped get my stash up and I am now using it for different crafts I am making. Not so scared now to try my hand at much, I can now make paper bag albums, trying making other minis and just got sent a cute mini album made out of toilet paper rolls. I never thought of using that kind of material and it is a great way to recycle. Well off to get my older kids up for school and then maybe some crafty time in before I have to be ready in half an hour for my day watching kids. If I am lucky and not to tired I might get some more crafty time in this afternoon while all the kids are sleeping! Have a delightful day crafting and stay warm everyone. The snow is falling here again. Its starting to look a lot like Christmas!!! 8 more days to go before the jolly old guy in a red suit comes!!

Before I left for the day I had to share this link. http://www.imaginisceblog.com/2010/12/garden-party-blossoms-banners-and-bows.html
They have a wonderful new set of products called Garden Party and they are giving away prize packs containing the full product line. Check it out it is one of my fav. companies!

Ran out of time.

Wow this last month went by so fast. I had such plans to get so much crafting done and I sooo wanted to enter some designs onto a couple of sites for design team calls. A last that never happened. Very disappointed in myself. I had 6 large swaps to finish up by today, they are finally done and postal to various people but when it comes to crafting zip got done. Started a night job for the holidays and that has taken all my time. Have a couple of errands to run today while the little ones are sleeping and then hopefully I can have some crafting time to myself :) Home tonight but we are decorating the Christmas tree which we done every year on December 1st. Maybe after the decorating I will have some more crafty time. Saturdays look like they are becoming the one and only day that I might have any real time for me. I feel so over whelmed right now that I know I need to take some time and craft it always makes me feel better. Also on my list is finishing a Christmas stocking for Veronica then find a pattern I like for Cara. I have been very lazy with my cross stitch lately otherwise Veronica's stocking would be done. I will try to do some LOs for a couple of challenges that are out there, I just don't know how some of the crafty ladies I know get it all done. I guess after Christmas I will be able to get more done as I have a week off from watching kids, my day home shuts down between Christmas and New Years every year. I only take 2 weeks a year off and that is one of them. Have kids for a half day on Christmas eve so I have to get their little Christmas gifts done. Not sure what I am doing for them this year but I have some little Christmas stockings so might fill them with some age proper treats plus need to get the baking done so I can make up my goodies gifts for friends and neighbours. UG so much to do and so little time. I love Christmas but don't feel ready at all this year...just really stressed! Have a great day all and thanks for stopping by.

Advent Calendar

So this past Saturday I went to a Super Saturday crafting event with the women from my church. We do these at least once a year. They have several projects for us to do and we order the supplies about 2 weeks in advance. I really wanted to do this project as I have no Advent Calendar in my home. We had the choice of the saying "Tis the season for CHRIST" or "Tis the season for FAMILY". I want to do Christ as that is what I try to teach my children Christmas is all about. I wanted to use my own CS as I have a ton of it and I did not want to do the traditional colours. I love snowflakes and I did not want to see Christmas designs on my board. I wanted it to be all about Christ. The CS I used of course is from DCWV. The Blue you see here is a shimmery blue and was from last years Holiday Collection The Christmas Cardstock stack. I do believe the Snowflake CS is from last years BoBunny Christmas collection.  I first painted the board a cream colour, this took several coats. While that was drying I cut the CS in to 6x12 strips and used my Martha Steward boarder and Corner punch, wish I had the snowflake set. Once dry I Mod Poded the CS to the board. Setting that aside to dry. Once dry I added the rhinestone snowflake and the little snowflake glitter stickers to the bottom corners of the large frame and the one that says CHRIST on it.

Here you can see the squares and the side that has on it the CS. Again the CS used is DCWV, the snowflake pieces are from last years The Christmas Stack and the stripes are from this years The Winter Stack, that is also were I got the CS for under the word CHRIST. Of course all this CS has glitter in it, got to have my glitter. For these squares the CS got cut in 3" by 3" squares and then Mod Podded onto the wood. Again set aside to dry. Let me tell you it takes forever for Mod Pod to dry.  After they dried the letters were added on. All the lettering and numbers are vinyl and Mod Podded over top to seal it all together.
My church makes these little cards with pictures of Christ on them so I picked up about 3 different sets. I also use some pictures of little children from a pack call "I am a Child of God". So about every third picture is of a child, some with a mom others of children sharing or praying. Because I was making this with my young children in mind I thought it was perfect to use these pictures. Again the pictures were trimmed to 3x3 squares and then Mod Podded on. I love the way it turned out and will now just have to get out my stand to display it. I plan on making 2 more of these next year but saying "Tis the season for FAMILY" and using pictures of all the grand kids to give to the grandparents. I think they will love it.

So sad

Went to my favourite and only scrapbook store here to get the Cottage Christmas pp from imaginisce and to see if they have the Enchanted collection coming in.Well they only had 2 pp left of the Cottage Christmas so picked that up with the matching ribbon will make cards out of that. They are not getting the Enchanted collection in which I wanted to make a LO so I instead chose the Dino Roar pp, ribbon and 3D stickers for a LO. I need these pps and collection by imaginisce so that I might send pics of these projects to them to apply for their 2011 design team. Now after talking with the manager of the store I want to be on the DT more then ever because then I will get to play with imaginisce new products and not wait around to see if my store here will get them. I REALLY wanted the Enchanted collection because of the fact I have 2 young girls and those pps would make some wonderful LOs for them. Well I guess they will have to go onto my wish list and if I am lucky I will have a secret pal that will buy them for me.

On another note. I picked up some more i-Rock rhinestones but while at Michaels I also checked out their jewelry section. They have some Heat Set Crystals there. I picked up 2 different brands to see if they will work with the i-Rock. I will post later if they work and what those brands are. There was all kinds of different colours but was unable to see if there was other heat set products. Had my 2 little girls with me and Cara, the youngest, did not want to be there so it became a look, grab, buy type of stop. Well it is time to go and nurse Cara and get her to sleep so I can try and get some crafting done. I will post some pics later.

Punches

So on the weekend I bought my first set of corner and boarder punches by Martha Stewart. Michael's was having a sale and selling all their Halloween products at 50% off, well a sales associate got a little happy with the signs and placed on on the end of the display where there were all these punches. I picked up a set, for me, along with the Heat Gun, again with 50% off, to send to a pal. I have some punches, corner punches and little character punches but I don't really have any boarder ones and my pages and cards really are lacking because of this. I figure this was a great way to try these out because they are normally $35 here. I paid $17 for the set and now that I have tried them would gladly pay full price for more. I will be on the look out from now on for these sets to actually go on sale and plan on taking full advantage when that happens. I love finding a new product that I enjoy and that I can share how fantastic it is.

I also commented that I would share what I thought of the i-Rock. This is a must have tool, I need to get more of the gems for it and I am going to try some of the other brands of heat gems out there to see how well it works with them. Now all I have to do is track down the video I saw on YouTube that demonstrated how to make your own stencils. I have a ton of little Cross Stitch designs that I could easily convert over to use the i-Rock with on my cards and lay outs. Get one of these wonderful little tools you will not be disappointed!

Should I or shouldn't I

Imaginisce is having a Design Team Call and so is Scrap, Laugh, Love. OK so I am thinking I might want to try for both of theses. Crazy I know because the designers on both of these sites are incredible. I look around at my scrap room and the projects I have done or the ones done for me and think I am no were near as creative as most of the women out there. But then I sit and remember that my dream job would be working for any one of my favourite craft sites and this is my chance. Being a stay at home mom life can be somewhat uneventful. Now with the kids there is always something going on but myself, nothing. Crafting weather that is scrap booking, card making, altering or my stress relief, cross stitching is my joy. This is my chance to do something for me, something I love and can be proud of. I would love to be involved with a Design Team and will be working on my applications over the next couple of weeks. I will look at it like all things in life. It is a learning experience regardless of the out come. Hopefully they will give some feed back to applicants and I can improve on what I am doing for the next time I try. Not to try is failure, success only comes to those willing to try and grab it. So I guess that answers that question for me. This also means I will have to spend sometime and figure out how to place Tags/Badges from other sites on to my blog so that people can just click on them to get to those sites. Time to go shopping for some Imaginisce supplies and create some projects to submit and see what happens LOL :D

i-Rock

Can you say WOW....I went to the mailbox this morning and there was a package in it from a secret pal from Texas. I love to do swaps and this is a Secret Card Swap Pal that I do every month. Each month we are given a different name and survey of their wishes plus 2 cards that they would like in their package. So this month Rubys had my name(I only found this out when I opened the package), she sent me 4 rolls of ribbon fall and Halloween colours, a package of Mulberry flowers, a beaded bookmark some lace, two amazing homemade cards and the most important thing an i-ROCK tool. I am so excited to have this tool and cant wait to try it out. She also include some metallic rhinestones for it so that I can start creating right away. Ever since I saw this tool in youtube I knew I had to have it. The last time that happened was 3 years ago when I got my cricut and cuttle bug, love them!! Now all I have to do is go and buy some batteries and I am set to create. It takes 3 AA batteries so will pick them up tonight. I will then start making something I don't know what yet but have some swaps due so might work on those items and see how this works. I will post pics and my thoughts on this tool/toy tomorrow to let you all know if you HAVE to have one LOL.

Current Scrap area

Currently I have an area in my master bedroom to store and do all my scrap booking. In the New Year I will be moving it all into a small bedroom/office once Cara is one and sharing a bedroom with her 2 year old sister. Here are a couple of pictures of how it looks right now. When I redo my room I will post new pictures.
This is much fuller now then when the picture was original taken. Top shelves hold nothing but DCWV cs stacks lol I am addicted to them. The bottom drawers hold clear stamps and tools, in the middle are my chalks, stamp pads, the other drawers hold cards and card making supplies.
These containers are organized by category, I have added more containers organized by colour.
This is an old shoe organizer from a store. It holds my embellishments sorted by colour and type.
My computer center. Holds alot of projects that friends have made for me. It helps to inspire me to be more creative.
This unit holds all my cross stitching supplies.
This is my desk and design area. A little messy but that is how I work. I need everything out and around me.

Cross stitch pins

Bead and cross stitch kit from Mill Hill. About 1 day to complete. All these kits are made on perforated paper and come with everything needed to complete. All kits are from Mill Hill Beads.
This is one I designed myself. the flowers and leaves are beads, gold thread around the heart and then a little blue/green cross stitch in the middle. About 1 day to complete.
Cross stitch and beaded bee. The wings have a second layer to them. It is a bead loop and has about 14 beads per loop. 1 day to complete.
Love this one it is stitched on a silver perforated paper and all the beads are a metallic colour. 1 day to complete. I cant wait to use this on a LO.
Little sorcerer cat the little star was stitched separately then stitched onto the main piece. 1 day to complete.
This star is two separate pieces that are then stitched together. the beaded strands have charms on the bottom really hard to see in this picture. 1 day to complete.
The wings for the angel are 2 separate pieces that are then stitched onto the back. the bottom of the dress is a series of bead loops and the harp is made of bangle beads with a gold charm at the bottom. 1 day to complete.

This little cat witch is holding a pumpkin and has a bat charm on her hat. 1 day to complete.

This cute little bat is wearing a purple vest and holding a gold star charm. 1 day to complete.

Cross stitched train to be used in my son's album.
Christmas tags. Cross stitched and then the name is done using a black sharpe
 Christmas tag.
This is made on plastic canvas. It is for the front of an album I am making for my grandmother in British Columbia that will have pictures of my kids and our family. There will be blank pages so she might add pictures over the years that I send to her.

Paper Bag Album Finally

This is my first attempt at a paper bag album. I won the Rak for this on Martica's blog. In the Rak was everything needed to make and complete this album. I added a few embellishments and CS of my own. The over all colours provided were black, red and cream. I think most of the CS is from DCWV  Le Creme Stack. I love black glitter pp she included would loved to have more. The flowers were from the Rak I added Diamond stickles to the petals, the ribbon is velvet with a silver heart slider, and a white butterfly plus the black lace all from the Rak. I added the red bling flourish from my own stash. I chose to boarder every page in xmas red stickles to tie all the pages together with on element that was the same through out. I love this cover I made never thought I could take so many different elements and come up with such an elegant design.

This page has two different pp used and then a red sparkly ribbon down the seam were I joined the two papers. The flap folds so that you can see the whole other page. This was a little difficult to do but not sure how else I could of decorated it.

On this page I added the red rhinestones to the flowers again from my stash. You can just see the ribbon tabs that are on the large tags in side the different pockets of the album.
On this page I made a small pocket and tag. the red rhinestone flourish, flowers and brads are from my own stash everything else Martica provided. the pattern paper is flocked and I loved the pattern.
Here is a page with nothing but the flocked paper and some ribbon. First I put down a black sheer ribbon then layered the red lace over top. Next I added the white flower brads all this was in the Rak. I added red stickles to the center of the brads and added diamond stickles to the petals of the brad flowers.
The red paper is from my stash and is in the center of the album. I wanted it to be bold and eye catching. I use the last of the black glitter paper on the fold and again added red sparkly ribbon to cover the seams.
This die cut is, I think, made of felt. I found it really set off the red paper nicely.
Here I made a pocket page and tab. I edged the pp in a silver ribbon that had beads hanging down that had flowers attached to the bottom. I then added the red beaded string on top of that. On the red cs I tried to make a flourish with the beaded string but it did not come out well. Everything but the red cs was included in the Rak.
On this page I again made a pocket except going diagonal. The striped cs, red cs and rhinestones were from my own stash. I used the last of the lace to boarder the top of the tag, the butterfly added stickles to the voids in the wings. I love all the ribbon I used here. I would have to say this is one of my all time favourite pages
This is the back of my album. The only thing here from my stash is the red cs. Again I added stickles to the rose petals. The black shear ribbon has sparkles on it. I enjoyed stretching my talent making this album and I would never have tried one if I had not won Martica's blog Rak. A huge thank you goes out to her for all the inspiration she provides me and for the chance with this and with swaps she has hostess for me to use and try things I would never of thought of myself. I will definitely be trying to make one of these again and hopefully with more creativity then I used here. It was a great stepping stone and learning experience.

Recycle can

This is the original colour of the little trash can I picked up at The Dollar Store. What an ugly colour of orangy red. But I did not pick it up for the colour I saw its potential and what it could become.
First I painted it a beautiful shade of purple. It took 3 coats of paint to hide the orangey red that it started off as. Once it was dried I added a clear rhinestone flourish to the lid with a purple flower to hid the awful detail it had on top. The flower has purple rhinestones and glitter on the petals and in the center, again a dollar store find.

Next I painted the entire body of the can, again 3 coats. I added cs which is from DCWV The Home Stack. I am sad because I am almost out of this particular cs pattern and I really like it. Along the top of the cs I added a silver ribbon and a brad with a purple sparkle flower on it. At the end of the ribbon I noticed a flaw in the paint so added the white ribbon flower that matches the purple one. It has clear rhinestones on the petals and glitter too. Added a Rhinestone flourish and then the word "recycle" in Thickers. This can sits on my desk were I make may projects and all the little scraps of pp and cs that I can use go in here so that later it can go into the recycling boxes outside.

Tin Challenge

Here is the small tin I picked up at Michaels. Scrap, Laugh, Love challenge for October was to alter/decorate any tin. I have been working on different containers for my desk to hold some of my embellishments in. At the time I thought I would make this into a pen holder
This is the top of the lid. I used cs from DCWV At Home stack that was exclusive to Micheals. The cs is blue with a purple motif, some of the blue has sparkles in the paper. The bling swirl is made up of purple, lavender and clear rhinestones, the flower is sliver. I boarded the top in Purple stickles to help seal the edge of the cs to the silver ribbon I used on the edge of the tin top.
First I added the cream lace to the top of the tin then covered it in silver ribbon. I next used Purple stickles to seal the ribbon to both the lace boarder and the cs top.
On the body of the tin I covered it in the same cs as the top and applied a matching bling flourish also added the same flower as well. The lettering is Thickers and reads "lace" on the other side of the word is a butterfly in purple and green.
Once I finished the tin I choose to use it to store my bits and pieces of lace in it. It will match nicely with my "recycle" container and my address/birthday box.

Here is a winter LO combining my love of scrap booking with my love of cross stitch. All the other elements on this page were made for me. Now I just need to takes some pictures this winter of my wonderful kids playing in the snow and add some journaling and it will b finished. The cross stitch set is from Mill Hill beads and was a kit for a seasonal fence that you change every month. I preferred making the kit and then using them on my LOs. I enjoy using different products and trying my hand at being a little unconventional with what I use. The second picture is a close of view of the cross stitch snowmen. It took about 4 days for this complete kit. The tree with the bird house was the most difficult as it is two separate pieces that are then stitched together to look like one. Same with the snowman holding the sled. If I were to have that piece in my hands it is one piece but again to was made as two completely separate pieces then stitched together and the bunny button then stitched on top.
